From the writer & director: My name is Luke Mepham, I’m a filmmaker from the south of the UK and I’m really excited to be bringing to you my feature film debut: ‘Amelia’.
I’ve made countless short films in the past and have won numerous awards for them but I feel now is the time to tell longer stories. This project has been on my mind for nearly six years and over the years I’ve come across some fantastic talent that I can see in the characters.
I was inspired to write ‘Amelia’ by such filmmakers as John Carpenter, George A. Romero and Mike Flannagan.
‘Amelia’ represents a rare kind of horror film: one that doesn’t rely on gratuity, gore, over the top violence and cheap shocks. Instead it operates by slowly getting under your skin and chilling you to the bone.
The script has fleshed out and realistic characters with a thought provoking storyline, but then weaves in elements of universal psychological terror. The result is what makes great horror films like ‘Jacob’s Ladder’, ‘Halloween’ and ‘Night Of The Living Dead’ possible.
We have a fantastic range of performers including Meghan Adara, fresh off her award winning role in ‘The Cellar’, playing the titular character, Sophie Lane, Guy Steddon, Amanda Bourne and Neil James. Another person I’m proud to bring on board is DOP Ollie Davies. This is also Ollie’s feature film debut and I’m excited to be able to take this journey with him. If his demo reel is anything to go by, he will give the film an incredibly beautiful look.
